-Missionary Corps ChristLife's Missionary Corps is a group of Catholics that meet periodically in the Archdiocese of Baltimore for worship, formation, and discussion centered around equipping corps members for evangelization as individuals and as a larger group. Corps gatherings are open to all Catholics seeking to make Christ known in their everyday lives. Current Schedule - updated 9/24/07 Bi-weekly meetings currently suspended until further notice Bi-weekly Meetings Since late Fall 2006, ChristLife's missionary corps has gathered at ChristLife's offices for worship, teaching, and fellowship focused on increasing our ability as Catholics to be witnesses to the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. Discovering Christ The missionary corps' first evangelization outreach as a group started April 17, 2007 at the Church of the Crucifixion, Glen Burnie, MD. The corps in conjunction with Crucifixion parish hosted a course called Discovering Christ. On six consecutive Tuesday evenings the basic Gospel message was presented and participants had the opportunity to encounter Christ. A second "pilot" course ran this Summer 2007 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Catonsville, MD for young adults. A third course is running in Fall 2007 at UMBC for young adults. History As a Catholic apostolate for evangelization, ChristLife has operated for ten years. After our tenth anniversary we desired to commit ourselves more directly to the mission of evangelization here in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. In the winter of 2006, Rev. Erik Arnold was selected as the Archdiocesan liaison to the Franklin Graham Metro Maryland Festival (July 2006). Rev. Arnold approached ChristLife for assistance on this initiative and for eight months we as a ministry were intimately involved in 1) training Catholics for participation in the Festival, 2) equipping Catholics to follow-up to Festival attendees with phone calls and bible studies, and 3) hosting a major Catholic follow-up event, called the One Thing Celebration. As a ministry we witnessed over 300 fringe or fallen away Catholics make new / renewed commitments to Christ at the Festival and, almost as impressive, over 200 faithful Catholics respond to help evangelize them in various ways. Beginnings Inspired by the great Catholic response to evangelize, ChristLife, along with Rev. Arnold discerned the Holy Spirit's call to support evangelization here in the Archdiocese of Baltimore through a "missionary corps" of Catholics commited to making Christ known in their individual lives and as a group. To cast our vision for a Missionary Corps, ChristLife hosted two events - Two by Two: Moving out for Mission and Into the Fields - a one-day retreat.
