The Festival was a success! In July 2006, thousands of people came and heard the Gospel preached at Camden Yards - and many made a new or a renewed commitment to follow Jesus. Cardinal Keeler, the Archbishop of Baltimore, and the Archdiocesan Festival Team wholeheartedly welcome this commitment many have made to follow Jesus.
In order to follow Jesus we need to live in a personal relationship with Him and His bride, the Church. In hopes of connecting Festival attendees with faithful Catholics around the Baltimore area, the Archdiocesan Festival Team sponsored The Names of Jesus bible study and The One Thing: A Celebration of New Beginnings.
The Names of Jesus Bible Study
Throughout the Archdiocese of Baltimore, in late summer 2006, many faithful Catholics hosted the The Names of Jesus study by Stephen Binz. A description of the purpose and subject of the study follows:
The essential purpose of reading the Scriptures is to know a personJesus Christmore personally and intimately. Knowing the names of Jesus allows us to establish a closer and fuller relationship with him. Though no single name or title of Jesus can encompass the fullness of who he is, together they express his very nature and person. They express and convey all his saving deeds. The more we know about his names, the more we will understand what he has done for us and what he still can do for us. We reflect on the names of Jesus for this reason: every name that he bears is a blessing that he shares.
