The New Evangelization
You may have heard of it. Its called the new evangelization. Is it a new message? No, it is the same message, same Gospel the Church has always proclaimed. But what Pope John Paul II meant by "new" is new in "ardor, methods, and expression."
A wonderful example of this is the Gospel being proclaimed in blogs like this and other multimedia - like a music, drama, video, etc. The following video by a group called LifeHouse is a wonderful example of evangelization at the most basic level. It is the struggle of a sinner trying to find their way back to God. A perfect video following this Sunday's liturgical readings on the Prodigal son. Watch the whole thing - its very powerful!

Actually, the song is called "Everything" by the band Lifehouse. I'm not sure who the skit is by.
Anyway.
My cousin and I were talking about happiness s few days ago. We talked about how you can't rely on earthly things to make you happy because what happens when those things go away/let you down? You're unhappy. The only way to true happiness is to be happy within and the only way to genuinely get that feeling is to let God into your life. It' nice to see a visual representation of our conversation.
This video is amazing. It was very touching; made me cry. But, I won't talk about that.
I agree with JPII. I think this is the sort of thing we need to be doing as Christians to spread the good word. Growing up with this new media, we have turned into a visual society, even moreso than before. Words don't evoke emotion amongst our generation as much as visuals like this. We need to get creative in coming up with new and exciting ideas to spread God's love; after all, that's what our competition is doing. There was this interesting segment on a podcast "the catholic undergound" about the pro-life movements targeting towards young people vs. the exciting visuals associated with the pro-choice movement. They were discussing how we need to, essentially, "update our look."
Um, wow. Got way off topic.
Long comment just to say: this is a great video. Thanks for sharing.
I appreciate those comments. I think the visualization of evil in the skit was powerful and shows the seductive element of sin and temptation. I think personifying these evils is really powerful and gets the point across. I assumed the evils were Satan, Greed, Drunkenness, Vanity, and Suicide.
Wow, that was a powerful video. It really shows how sin and temptation separate us from Christ, but it also shows the power that Christ has over sin. He gives us the choice; we need to choose Him.
